In functional medicine, we understand that weight loss is often not as simple as calories in, calories out. We encounter weight loss goals commonly when we work with patients on chronic health concerns.

We encounter weight loss goals commonly when we work with patients on chronic health concerns. If you have been struggling with your physical health due to excess weight, you have probably sought many different strategies and diets over the years.

Unfortunately, we know that as many as 2/3 of diets fail. And long term goals are often not sustained.

At IHM, we approach weight loss differently. Our team is committed to supporting you achieve your best health through investigation on multiple levels, including:

  • Obstacles: Have blood sugar issues, thyroid issues, or sex hormones been acting against your efforts to eat well and exercise? Are you managing stress effectively and sleeping well at night? What do your genes tell us about your affinity for weight gain or metabolic disease? What is the health of your gut microbiome and are there imbalances in flora contributing to weight?
  • Personalization: Maybe you are eating a healthy diet, but are you eating what’s right for you? Are there nutrient deficiencies or metabolism roadblocks that need support? Is your nutrition balanced for your unique needs and lifestyle?
  • Goals: What are your goals around weight loss? Are they providing you with motivation to feel healthy and strong, cultivate happy relationships, live in balance, and participate in the things you love? Those goals tend to be a more powerful driving force than the number on the scale.

If you have been struggling with health issues related to excess weight and need support, reach out to us and see how an integrative approach can make the difference!
