Balancing your hormones can be a key adjunct to restoring your health! At IHM, we frequently see patients with hormone disturbances causing a variety of symptoms, and we often see accelerated recoveries in patient with complex conditions when their hormones are rebalanced.

At IHM, we exclusively use bioidentical hormones because decades of research have shown these to be far safer. We combine our conventional medical training with research into the newest technologies to offer you the best treatments and highest quality hormone testing and monitoring.

Bioidentical hormone therapy with pellets is an excellent option. With this choice, we check your labs, calculate a pellet dose, insert them in a simple office procedure, and then assess your hormone levels a few weeks later to determine how your body responded to the initial dose. We give you a booster if needed, and from there on, we are aware of what your body needs. Pellets are specially designed to slowly release, so you don’t have to worry about other people being exposed to your hormones or about dosing on a frequent basis. Men usually only need two insertions a year, and women typically need three. Pellets are customized to you to get the best results. To maximize safety, we monitor estrogen metabolism a few months after your pellet therapy to ensure your body is processing the extra hormones in the safest way, and offer nutritional support if needed.

Another option is bioidentical hormone creams, compounded by a pharmacy with expertise. Commercially available creams do not always come in the most effective base, and are often made from hormones from other species. When we do hormone creams, we begin with low doses and then monitor how your tissue levels are affected with salivary testing to ensure your dose is right for you and safe. As with pellets, we also monitor estrogen metabolism to ensure you aren’t developing unwanted byproducts from the supplemental hormones, and we use nutritional approaches to address this if it does occur. The downside of creams is that they require daily application, absorption can be variable through the skin, and your close family members risk exposure to the hormones as well, which can be especially dangerous for pregnant women and children.
