Valerie Guevara, FMCHC, NBC-HWC was born and raised in East Texas and has always been interested in health and wellness. This lifelong interest led Valerie to pursue a degree in nursing. During her training and first job as a nurse, she cared for chronically ill patients and felt she had little to offer them in the conventional medical model. Valerie realized that creating health and wellness rather than managing chronic disease was her true passion.
This newfound passion led Valerie to the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy through The Institute of Functional Medicine where she trained and graduated as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. Valerie went on to become a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach though NBHWC.
Her training at the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy equipped Valerie with skills and tools to truly help clients make lasting changes that cultivate health and wellness. Valerie works with clients on the ‘why’ behind their goals and considers herself a companion on her clients’ journeys.
Working as a nurse, Valerie has experienced firsthand how stress can deeply impact quality of life. This along with her love of learning inspired her to continue her education through the Heart Math® Institute where she became a HeartMath® Certified Mentor. Valerie enjoys teaching HeartMath® to use as another tool to mitigate and build resilience to stress.
In her free time, Valerie can be found tending her garden, walking in the country or reading a good book.
