Practical Experience

A native of Dallas, Dr. Kevin G. May graduated from Abilene Christian University and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed a 3-year residency in internal medicine at the university hospitals within the University of Texas system in San Antonio.

Dr. May was in private practice in Tyler from 1986-2007 then proudly served the Department of Veterans Affairs from 2008 until 2014. While at the VA, Dr. May held various positions including Chief Medical Officer of the two largest outpatient clinics in the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio. After returning to Tyler in 2015, Dr. May cared for patients at May Medical, Integrative Health Matters, and played a vital role in opening the new Veteran’s Affairs clinic in Tyler. Dr. May’s passion for functional/integrative medicine has led him back to Integrative Health Matters in 2022.

Journey to Integrative Health

Kevin G. May, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine. After witnessing the difficulty in optimal management and healing of many common chronic diseases in the conventional medical model, Dr. May decided to expand his training. Dr. May’s strong passion for functional and integrative medicine led him to advance his specialization with the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Metabolic Medicine, The Institute of Functional Medicine, the Academy of Metabolic and Functional Medicine, and a certification in Advanced Metabolic Cardiovascular Medicine.

Dr. May is an expert in finding the root causes of disease based on the functional medicine approach with extensive evaluation of genetics, specialized labs, and lifestyle. Dr. May enjoys creating custom treatment plans for his patients to allow for true, whole-body healing.

Dr. May is a diplomate of the American Boaard of Internal Medicine and a diplomate of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. He has been the recipient of several esteemed doctor awards, including On-Time Doctor Award, Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award, and the Patient’s Choice Award.

Passions

Dr. May is passionate and committed to developing a strong patient-physician relationship. Dr. May’s priority and dedication are to his patients as their doctor. He believes his patients deserve better than a quick, five-minute visit and remains dedicated to providing the highest quality health care for every one of his patients.

Dr. May is a voracious reader and life-long learner. He enjoys traveling, football and spending time outdoors.
