FAQ

Have questions about Integrative Health Matters services or procedures?
We’ve compiled our most frequently asked questions (FAQ) here for you.

What is the mission of Integrative Health Matters?

The mission of Integrative Health Matters is to improve the health of our patients and community by providing exceptional care for the whole person.

What is the vision of Integrative Health Matters?

The vision of Integrative Health Matters is to lead with love, treat patients like guests in our home, and provide superior, science-based care through listening and partnering with patients to cultivate health and well-being.

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative Medicine takes into account the whole person, including all physical, emotional, mental, social, and environmental influences that affect health. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is evidence-based, and uses interventions from an array of scientific disciplines to help people regain optimum health.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease, not just the symptoms. We seek to identify imbalances in the way the body functions, to correct them, and to allow healing to occur.

What age range of patients do IHM providers see?

At IHM, we typically see patients age 18 and older. However, some of our providers and health coaches do see younger patients. Younger patients are approved for care on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in scheduling a patient who is under 18, please call our office and a provider will determine if IHM will be able to provide care.

Who would benefit from coming to Integrative Health Matters?

Everyone regardless of their health condition can benefit from integrative and functional medicine. Many of our patients come to us after they feel conventional medicine has failed to help them. They may have tried both conventional medicine and alternative treatments, but still don’t “feel better.” They may not have a clinically identifiable disease – they simply know they do not feel well. Others come to us because they like the idea of identifying and dealing with the root causes of disease and not simply managing symptoms. Still others have a goal of living their lives in a state of optimal wellness and avoiding chronic diseases whenever possible. Our team helps restore and optimize health.

How do I get started?

Call us at 903-595-8077 or click here to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with an IHM team member. During this call, the IHM team member will discuss with you your health concerns and answer your questions about becoming a patient. It is on this call that we will schedule your first appointment with an IHM medical provider.

Do I need an appointment? Do you accept walk-in patients?

Each patient needs to schedule an appointment to see a medical provider. Before any patient sees a provider, we require an extensive health history questionnaire and previous medical records. Our providers spend significant time preparing before each appointment by reviewing the patient’s medical records and health history questionnaires to ensure each patient gets the most value possible from each appointment.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

We ask our patients to plan to be at the clinic for up to 2 hours for their first visit. This isn’t time you will spend in the waiting room, but time you will spend with our medical team working towards a solution for your concerns. We’ll listen. We will ask a lot of questions. You will walk away with recommendations on how to move closer to discovering the root cause of your disease/symptoms.

What is your cancelation policy?

We require 48 hours’ notice if you realize you will miss a scheduled appointment so we can schedule another patient for that time slot. If we receive a notice less than two days, you will be charged a cancellation $50 fee.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We are now accepting most major insurances, including Medicare, United Healthcare, Aetna, and others. Please call the office for more information.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, most major credit cards, and Care Credit
